Words don’t come easy

If you walk past Halo Café you can read some funny signs on most days of the week. This one is in celebration of the awful spelling and grammar that can be seen on Facebook. Enjoy the fun spellings, smile and walk on by.

Only last week someone pointed out an incorrect spelling. Only thing is, it was deliberate, done on purpose . . . Just to mess with your head, just a little bit.

Our Quality Coffee

Our coffee is roasted in Italy where espresso was invented. We discovered Mokaflor 8 years ago and enjoyed the smokey flavour and rich crema of the espresso. When milk is added to create your preferred beverage it’s coffee perfection.

So now you know that Coca Cola had it wrong all these years:

Have a Coffee and a Smile.

Ireland’s Ancient East

Ireland’s Ancient East

A visit to the Eastern Counties of Ireland is going to be packed with a host of historic houses, towns and villages to visit.

Celbridge is just 25 minutes from Dublin Airport and is packed with historic houses and buildings. Castletown House in Celbridge was the life’s work of generations of the Connolly family and is now owned by the People of Ireland.

Celbridge is a Georgian town built largely in the 18th Century in conjunction with Castletown House. The town is aligned with the tree lined avenue to the House.

Whether you are staying in Celbridge or just passing through, you can be assured of a warm welcome at Halo Café.

We are located just opposite the ancient famine graveyard and workhouse. There are 250 free parking spaces – no worries there then.

We look forward to welcoming you to Celbridge and hope you enjoy your stay.

Party Catering in Your Home

Party Catering Survey

OPTION ONE
Imagine yourself standing in your house holding a glass of bubbly, greeting your family and friends. Point them in the direction of the drink and the food.

“Help yourselves!”

Now enjoy your party in the company of friends and family. Enjoy a choice of freshly prepared homemade food and a slice of apple pie.

Say goodbye to a happy group of friends and family…. and accept their compliments as they leave.

And remember we bring the plates and the cutlery and the napkins and the buffet dishes. We even collect everything and take everything away and do the washing up!

OPTION TWO
Rush around preparing food all day, get sisters and aunties to butter bread and make a choice of cheese or hang sangwiches. Try to fit all the sausages in the oven at the same time as the reformed chicken nuggets and spring rolls.

Get the first lot of washing up in the machine and tackle the next lot in the sink. Get suds on the new outfit and chip your nail varnish.

Get changed….again. Touch up nail varnish. Remember to check the oven and find the spring rolls burnt at the edges.

Answer the door and rush back to the oven. Retrieve the chicken thingies and put the smoking trays into the sink. Run the cold tap over your burning fingers.

Smile/grimace through the pain and offer your guests the cheese and hang sangwiches.

Enjoy your party.

Say goodbye to your guests and tackle the washing up. splash suds on your outfit…again. Chip your nail varnish…again. Burn your fingers…again…

Celbridge Café knows how to tempt ‘Game of Thrones’ fans

by @OisinCollins Email author

There are certainly a few creative types working in Halo Café in Celbridge… (It’s beside the Tesco)
There’s nothing like a good funny blackboard sign to get the punters into your shop and hats off to the guys at Halo Café in Celbridge as they’ve been putting out some pretty good signs as of late.
They’re fairly confident that their scones are some of the best in the country (judging by their Twitter account) so they recently put out this gem…

Halo Café

Homemade brown bread with smoked salmon is Irish luxury

Homemade brown bread recipe from Castletown House Celbridge

Halo Cafe Homemade Brown Bread

We bake our homemade brown bread fresh everyday and is available to buy or you can order in advance.

The recipe is based on one that was used in Castletown House in Celbridge. Over the first few years of Halo Café we would make a couple of loaves everyday to accompany our homemade soup. We tested and tasted the recipe and made a few changes including adding pumpkin seeds for a bit of extra crunch.

Once people had tasted the bread they started asking if they could buy a loaf to take away. This grew and grew and so we now have a regular group of customers who call in for their daily loaf.

Every Christmas Eve we prepare 10 times the number of loaves. Our customers can enjoy a slice of with their soup of smoked salmon on Christmas Day.

When we provide soup and sandwiches for our catering events the brown bread is always a popular addition. It also appears on our canapé selection.
