We bake our homemade brown bread fresh everyday and is available to buy or you can order in advance.
The recipe is based on one that was used in Castletown House in Celbridge. Over the first few years of Halo Café we would make a couple of loaves everyday to accompany our homemade soup. We tested and tasted the recipe and made a few changes including adding pumpkin seeds for a bit of extra crunch.
Once people had tasted the bread they started asking if they could buy a loaf to take away. This grew and grew and so we now have a regular group of customers who call in for their daily loaf.
Every Christmas Eve we prepare 10 times the number of loaves. Our customers can enjoy a slice of with their soup of smoked salmon on Christmas Day.
When we provide soup and sandwiches for our catering events the brown bread is always a popular addition. It also appears on our canapé selection.
