Have you had difficulty getting your stuff on the internet. I have recently been telling people about the importance of OWNING your OWN information. Thanks to www.theoatmeal.com for explaining how Facebook are now charging to contact your followers.
The cartoon sums up the visibility of Halo Café on Facebook. Gradually declining until you cough up some cash. This is one of the reasons why you can keep up to date with Halo Café on a whole host of platforms.
We are on Instagram but, as that is owned by Facebook, we may have to think about this one. If you want to keep seeing our posts you will have to start sharing a whole more. SHARE PEOPLE!
We have been on Twitter for the longest time. If you follow us on Twitter you could also follow realDonaldTrump. If you really want to. At the moment you can choose what you want to see on Twitter.
We occasionally post stuff directly to Google. So you could just Google search – Halo Café Celbridge and click on images. Google are quite a friendly bunch. They call occasionally and check if our listing is up to date. They also let me know the other day that one of our web links was not working. Which was nice.
A recent addition is YouTube with a few collections of chalkboards and signs. You can find details of our channel here. It is early days for the channel so subscribe and you can be first to see what’s happening.
If you read blogs you could add www.halocafe.ie/news to your follow list and catch up with us there. I use Feedly to keep track of a few bloggers that I like to read. When I have time to read.
I have been informed that I am waaaaay too old to be on Snapchat! We will keep this one under review . . .
And in conclusion
If you are on Facebook please remember – Facebook OWNS you.
After a weekend spent at web community conference the results are now available on YouTube.
Word Camp Dublin 2017 brought together over 200 web designers, developers, seo practitioners, a harp teacher, and a random . . . ummm . . . café owner.
As well as being a café owner, baker, barista, washer upper, party planner, logistics manager, purchasing manager, customer relations manager, sales manager, I am also “The Webmaster”!
Trying to schedule a full weekend conference into the commitments of busy café and catering company was not an easy task. It required planning, rostering, and a really early start. Scones don’t bake themselves, don’t you know.
The conference was designed for tech heads and techno dopes. It was a chance to learn some techie stuff and some business stuff. One of the first presentations was by an Irish harp teacher from Galway, Una ní Fhlannagáin – TheHarpTeacher.com
One unique feature of her talk was that she was able to use her website and YouTube to teach her students at a faster rate than weekly lessons and practice at home. It worked so well that her ensemble performed at The Royal Albert Hall.
A ten minute chat with Una during the lunch break led to downloading an app, editing a video, adding a soundtrack and uploading a video to YouTube. Ten minutes we’ll spent.
The YouTube channel had been set up over four years ago. I didn’t think I would ever get to use it. It has been a slow start but there are now a couple of videos for you to enjoy.
All you need to do now is subscribe to the channel. It’s free!
At the end of the conference we were asked to set three goals. First was my ambition to start a travel blog. (Sorry I don’t get out much). Secondly create and publish some videos for your amusement and delight . . .
Thirdly . . . Well, you will just have to wait and see . . .
