Christmas is all about family. As you are our Halo Café family we thought we would let you know about our plans for this year.
We are closing for Christmas on Saturday 23rd December at 5pm.
That means we are not opening on Christmas Eve – Sunday 24th December. Because we don’t open on Sundays. So we won’t be open. And we won’t be open on the 25th or the 26th because we don’t open on bank holidays. Can you see a pattern developing here?
We are aware that this may have a deep psychological and emotional effect on some of you. A helpline will be set up to help you talk through any issues you may be experiencing.
Please share with your friends, family and neighbours that may not be online.
Brown Bread for Christmas
We will be baking all day on Saturday 23rd December. If you need our homemade brown bread for your celebration dinner, please let us know. You can collect your bread right up until 6pm.
Once your bread has cooled down, wrap in cling film and enjoy for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Lightly toasting under the grill accentuates the malty flavour. With real butter and scrambled eggs – perfect.
If smoked salmon is your starter of choice be sure to add a tub of cream cheese to your shopping list. Add a thick layer of cream cheese and slices of smoked salmon. Depending on your preference you can garnish with dill herb or capers.
If soup is your thing you just need bread with lashings of real butter. Job done.
Stephen’s Day or Stephenses Day or Boxing Day or the day after the night before . . . Cold cuts, ballymaloe relish, cheeses, brown bread. If you’re into pâté slap a thick layer on brown bread.
If you made a resolution this year you should be well over that by now. That is, if you even succeeded in keeping it more than a few days.
Remember the birthday party you had to go to on the second day of January? The leaving party drinks you had after work one day. That Christening where everyone had to raise a glass to the sleeping babe and the glowing parents.
So if it really was “Dry January”, congratulations. If you took our advice and walked that extra mile, then even better, well done. You’re looking shocking well.
It is now back to reality. Well sort of. There is the little subject of Valentine’s Day coming up. Spring is in the air and there’s nothing half so sweet in life as love’s young dream.
First Dates Café
Halo Café has quite often been the location of first dates. There are no airs and graces here. You can be sure of a friendly welcome and there are no long words on the menu.
There are plenty of choices on the menu but you won’t find oysters or asparagus. We have plenty of chocolate treats available if you are looking for an aphrodisiac.
How do you like your eggs?
If you can’t decide what to have then the answer is simple. Breakfast is the food of love. Just make sure you tell us how you like your eggs, your toast and your coffee.
If you are planning a romantic get together at Halo Café there is no need to worry about embarrassing silences. We have a scrolling collection of our blackboard signs that will keep you amused and give you some talking points.
And if you are keeping up with the walking there is no better place than a stroll along the Liffey and Castletown House. Get out there and enjoy the walks, the fresh air and the scenery.
If you walk past Halo Café you can read some funny signs on most days of the week. This one is in celebration of the awful spelling and grammar that can be seen on Facebook. Enjoy the fun spellings, smile and walk on by.
Only last week someone pointed out an incorrect spelling. Only thing is, it was deliberate, done on purpose . . . Just to mess with your head, just a little bit.
Our Quality Coffee
Our coffee is roasted in Italy where espresso was invented. We discovered Mokaflor 8 years ago and enjoyed the smokey flavour and rich crema of the espresso. When milk is added to create your preferred beverage it’s coffee perfection.
So now you know that Coca Cola had it wrong all these years:
There are certainly a few creative types working in Halo Café in Celbridge… (It’s beside the Tesco)
There’s nothing like a good funny blackboard sign to get the punters into your shop and hats off to the guys at Halo Café in Celbridge as they’ve been putting out some pretty good signs as of late.
They’re fairly confident that their scones are some of the best in the country (judging by their Twitter account) so they recently put out this gem…
And it doesn’t stop there…
Fair play to artists/baristas in Halo and if you’ve any scones left over make sure to send them our way! You can check out all their other signs over on the Halo Café Twitter page.
